No Place Like Home
It seems fitting that the first of my 60 places to visit in my 60th year was Gunners Park, Shoebury, on 1st January 2026. Not much to say about this other than I was marshalling at my local Park Run, come on you did not think I was running it! It looks so calm and peaceful. What you cannot hear in the distance is the puppy howling as my sister drags him away from me to walk home whilst I silently clap, gloves were too thick, and try to say encouraging words to keen, yet chilly and in some cases, hungover, folks trying to start the year on the right foot! It always looking at its best when the tide is high. I will of course visit this place numerous times in 2026 but I am convinced that it will not be as Baltic as on New Year's Day.
