Fish and Chip Train

A ride out on the heritage line starting at North Weald running up to Ongar and then back down the line to North Weald, well actually a little bit further. On the way out the steam engine pulled us with a lovely 'pushticome' noise and on the way back there was a not so old diesel engine, strangely it was this one that the gift shop chose for their one postcard option. The gift shop was an experience in itself with a sweet lady who popped up unexpectedly from behind the counter. On the train we saw the forests of Epping but we were slightly distracted by a huge portion of fish and chips on the way back. A great little adventure which was made into a full day thanks to the 'efficicency' of the modern railway system. Aprroximately a 6 hour round trip from Shoeburyness to North Weald and yes you would be correct in thinking that both locations are in fact in the same county.

Fantabulous! Did you bring your duffle coat, thck plastic-rimmed glasses and vacuum flask along?
