Trieste Airport
Trieste Airport

Well this is a funny post because thanks to Ryanair I spent rather a lot of time here. Firstly on the way in when we landed and there did not appear to be any staff at the border control! Once they turned up there were 4 people working and obviously we were divided into the fast lane for EU citizens and the snail's pace lane for everyone else. Yet again they were taking photos and scanning fingerprints, not sure how many times I have done this already but my guess would be at least 10 and it does not get any quicker. On the plus side just before I boarded I was sent a message saying that my luggage may not be on the plane but as I stood waiting in line I could see it on the conveyor belt though the glass. Otherwise I would have had a pair of undercrackers, swimmers and a tshirt for a week, actually quite doable for me. I had a premonition that my luggage would not arrive with me, spooky! on the return to the airport we did actually stop in the local town for coffee and a pistachio biscuit but it was in a bakery so no photos were taken. After the debacle entering Italy and the email warning me that I needed to allow extra time to complete check in and passport control I arrived at the airport about 5 hours before my flight. Possibly a bit early but it was a similar pallavar with a new check in system involving QR codes and reference numbers. Strangely I was not sent a follow up survey to give my opinion on my experience. It was a flipping experience, including a nice long time sitting on the plane with no information. Lucky I was really calm after being able to sit outside in the sun and read my kindle, thank goodness for all those Italians who still smoke, meaning ample space to sit outside.
